About Me

My name’s Glen Scrivener.  I’m not a linguist or historian.  I’m a minister in the Church of England and an evangelist in Eastbourne, UK.  I write as someone gripped by the Jesus of the Bible, but I don’t presume that you share my beliefs.

I just ask that you try on these snatches of Scripture like a pair of glasses and look around for a minute.  Maybe you’ll start seeing things differently.  Maybe you’ll see the King for yourself.

You can read my personal blog here.

Feel free to join the discussion or write to me personally.  I’d love to interact with you.

Please do get in touch.

  2. Glen,

I don’t understand how you can be so close and yet so far away at the same time. You seem in awe of the influence to the AV 1611 on Western Civilization and yet this exercise seems like so much trivia. I have only, this afternoon, come upon your website, however, I do not understand your connection to a church “twice dead and plucked up by the roots.” The Church of England and its counterpart in the Episcopal church in America are just hotbeds of liberalism and false doctrine. They been this way for decades. England has less that 7% of it population the attend any “Christian” Church – no matter what its stripe!! They people have no authoritative BOOK. No, STANDARD. NO “Thus saith the Lord. England has long ago departed from the TRUTH of God’s Scriptures perserved [1881] and have floundered ever since. The irony is the England have “birth to” the Book of the Philidelphian
Church Age. More lives have been changed by the King James Bible than all books on the planet…in the last 400 years.

I read one of your personal blogs and . . . you “dance” all around the Truth. By the way, Old Testament saints were not “born again” by looking to the Cross of Christ. Jesus disciples didn’t even understand what Jesus was talking about in Luke 18:31-34!!! That statement was just a short time before Jesus went to the Cross! “this saying was hid from them”

Mercy! So close and yet so far. Look at our website if you have time. [prayerbaptist.org]

I hope I haven’t come across in this communication as arrogant – that was and is not my purpose. You are not “far from the “kingdom” in one way and so far from the “kingdom” in another.

    Sincerely for His Glory,

    Pastor Larry Bartlett

  3. Well, well, well . . . I have just read your comments on Baxter and know from where you are coming. Sad . . . .

    Pastor Bartlett

PS. we Bible Believers and {anabaptists} were persecuted by both Catholics and Puritians. That’s why many of “us” left England and Europe many centuries ago.

America is heading down the same path that England and Europe have already paved.

    • Glen says:

      Dear Larry,

Sorry, for some reason your comments (and a few others) have been in spam.

Your posts are like shotgun spray. Very forceful but spread over a dozen subjects all at once. Not sure I’ll be able to respond to you satisfactorily. If you want to take up the issue of the Object of saving faith throughout Scripture, there are many opportunities to do that on my other blog.

I wish you all the best in your ministry. You rightly note the desperate need of the UK for the Gospel of Christ. Perhaps you’ll pray with me that this land will turn to Jesus.

      God bless,
      Glen

Wow! You are a Pastor?1?! I think you forgot all about the speaking the truth IN LOVE part. What is the point of going to someone else’s website just to pronounce yourself better than him? Is this the attitude of a Christian? of a pastor? Just as important as our positions is our dispositions and “brother” based on what you write here your church must be deader than a door nail and filled with angry people who are the same.

  5. Glen says:

Hi Dennis, Are you referring to me or to Larry or someone else?

  6. Ellen M says:

The good folks over at http://www.breakpoint.org embedded your video in their
Blog. So glad they did as I absolutely loved it! It is an impressive
teaching of the Good News of Jesus. Well done!

  7. Duncan says:

Glen… I was really hurting today, and then I found your blog. What a blessing, and what a healing. Thanks so much. PTL!

  8. Ann Cantrell says:

Glenn, I feel certain that Dennis was rebuking Larry for his very unloving remarks. He could not have referring to you, as you that you say is clearly spoken in love, unlike Larry’s missive.

P.S. I meant to say in my previous message that my husband and I are Americans living in the U.S. We spent twelve years in England up until 1996 while my husband was with the U.S.A.F. located in Suffolk, UK. So listening to your video was a real blessing to me.

    Your sister in Christ Jesus,
    Mrs. Ann Cantrell

  9. Bob Myers says:

Fantastic Biblical theology . Love it. This is exactly the kind of thing we need more of because you center on Jesus Christ, and are able to write lyrically and beautifully. May God bless your work and widely distribute your labors for His glory!

  10. Glen says:

Dear Ellen, Duncan, Ann and Bob – so sorry to be lax on my replies! I’m very grateful for your encouragements. Jesus is LORD and it’s a privilege to be able to speak of Him.

    Every blessing in Him!
    Glen

  11. Jules says:

You certainly are no historian. No historical method or objectivity has obviously been applied to your doctrines. This always annoys me. You have a basic knowledge of 1st century history and use it to blind those who don’t know anything. I’ve seen this happen in other places- like the Alpha Course and pretty much every church I’ve visited in Southern England. I applaud your love of the KJV, a love which I share. However, one should only see it as a piece of literature, and nothing more.

  12. PAUL COLEGATE says:

HELLO GLEN AND EMMA I WANT TO SHARE YOUR MINISTRIES WITH MY FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK

  13. Mel Deardorf says:

Glen: After reviewing the comments of some of your it seems important to me to support your loving expression supporting Jesus and his loving Father/GOD. A young lady once told me that she got it when she was 6 years old. Raised in a loving family it was easy for her to love GOD. Then in Church one day someone told her she must fear God. Impossible, she thought, knowing God there is only love. There is no duality in GOD. God unites; men and fear divide.

  14. What a material of un-ambiguity and preserveness of precious knowledge about unexpected feelings.
